  • The Young Dairy Leaders Institute is a nationally recognized three-phase leadership and communication skills development program for young adults (ages 22-45) working in the dairy industry with all breeds of cattle.
  • During Phase I, the group meets face-to-face, and the meeting time is devoted to individual leadership, growth and personal development skills.
  • Phase II, which takes place in the year between Phases I & III, offers a chance for participants to put their advocacy skills into practice with a real-world project in their home communities.
  • For Phase III, the class is brought back together for another four-day conference, and focuses on advanced training in media relations, meeting and board skills and public policy.
  • YDLI graduates are better prepared to strengthen the organizations to which they belong, the companies they work for, the communities they live in and the industry they love.

YDLI Class 7 will meet for Phase I in the spring of 2011 and Phase III in the spring of 2012.

The Holstein Foundation, through its support from generous corporate and individual donors, covers:
  • Costs of program development
  • Expert speakers and presenters
  • Meals during the conferences
YDLI participants are responsible for:
  • $500 participation fee, which covers all three phases of the program
  • Airfare and other transportation costs associated with attending Phases I & III
  • Lodging during Phases I & III. Accommodations are arranged for participants, with assigned roommates to share the room cost.

Class 7 applications are due in the summer of 2010. Click here to be added to our mailing list to receive an application when they are available.
