George Miller was an icon within the Holstein breed, a pillar within
Select
Sires Inc., and a lifelong dedicated supporter of the Holstein
Association
USA and many other breed associations. George’s passion centered
around
educating others on the ideals of success and providing examples to
many
on how breeding programs drive success into global dairy
enterprises.
George took a special interest in youth to assure their future
within the
dairy industry was well represented and prepared for leadership
roles.
This Memorial Scholarship has been built to represent all that
George gave
to the industry, and award winners of this scholarship carry this
same giving
back passion.
The new scholarship fund is hosted by the Holstein
Foundation, awarded by Holstein Association USA, and is supported by
Select Sires’
genetic programs. Select Sires has been allocating funds for this
scholarship from semen
sales of 7HO15807 GEORGE MILLER, a recently released NxGEN® sire. A
selection
committee organized by Select Sires Inc. will review the
applications and select
scholarship winners. The George Miller Memorial scholarship will be
awarded at the
National Holstein Convention.
